This past year has been stressful for everyone for many reasons. At just about the same time we were all learning about a new pandemic that was about to go global, residents in rural New Brunswick were reeling from the news that healthcare reforms were going to be introduced that would, among other things, see our emergency rooms closed overnight.
The provincial government has launched a Disaster Financial Assistance program to help small businesses, municipalities and individuals who suffered property damage following the heavy rainfall.
The program provides assistance for eligible damage and losses that threaten the health and safety of individuals, municipalities and small businesses. The maximum assistance for structural repairs to private residences is $160,000, while the maximum for small businesses and not-for-profit organizations is $500,000

The Town of Sussex is pleased to advise residents of an important capital improvement project that has begun today. The Sussex Sawmill has initiated the work necessary to complete an investment of $15,000,00 to upgrade this facility and to implement a modernization of an important economic driver in the greater Sussex Region.
