Sussex Rotary Club’s Donation Helps Sussex Go Electric at the Rink

Sussex is one step closer to a greener future on the ice, thanks to another generous donation from the Sussex Rotary Club.

At the June 16 Council meeting, Rotarians Alaina Lockhart and Rhoda Wilson presented Sussex with a $25,000 donation to support the purchase of a new electric ice resurfacer for the 8th Hussars Arena. Generously demonstrating a strong show of ongoing support for local recreation and sustainability.

Council expressed deep appreciation for the Rotary Club of Sussex’s continued commitment to the community. This donation helps Sussex take a big step forward. It means a safer, more efficient, and more environmentally responsible rink for everyone who enjoys it.

The new electric ice resurfacer will replace older equipment with a modern, eco-friendly alternative. With lower emissions and quieter operation, it’s a smart investment that benefits athletes, families, and the planet alike.

Sussex Administration looks forward to rolling out the new resurfacer in the near future and is proud to partner with community partners such as the Sussex Rotary Club, making lasting improvements that keep our community strong, active, and future-focused.
