Affordable Housing – HAF Affordable Housing Grant Programs

Policy T-01:

The Affordable Housing Development Grant Program in Sussex aims to increase affordable housing by providing financial support to both non-profit and for-profit developers. This program seeks to meet the growing demand for affordable housing in the community.

Application and Review Process:

  1. Any applicant wishing to be considered for a grant under this Policy must complete and submit an Application Form (see Form T-01-01) to the town of Sussex following the issuance of a building permit.
  2. Applications will be processed in order of receipt.
  3. Only one affordable housing project shall be considered per Application

This grant is only eligible to developments that have applied for a building permit after the signing of the contribution agreement between CMHC and the town of Sussex. For the purposes of this policy March 22, 2024, shall be deemed the eligibility date.

Policy T-02:

The Affordable Housing – Building Permit and Development Fee Grant Policy in Sussex aims to help make housing more affordable by offering grants to cover fees related to building, development, and renovation permits. This policy applies to both new and existing affordable housing projects.

Application and Review Process:

  1. Any applicant wishing to be considered for a grant under this Policy must complete and submit an Application Form (see Form T-02-02) to the town of Sussex prior to the commencement of any work and prior to applying for a building permit or development permits.
  2.  Applications will be processed in order of receipt.
