8th Canadian Hussars to Conduct Stability Operations Exercise in Sussex
Community Notice: Local Training Exercise Taking Place This Weekend
From October 17 to 19, the Sussex Emergency Operations Control Group (EOC) will be working alongside the 8th Canadian Hussars (Princess Louise’s) and local emergency services as part of a joint stability operations training exercise in Sussex.
Over the weekend, residents may notice uniformed soldiers and military vehicles in key areas, including Town Hall, the 8th Hussars Garrison, the Sussex Fire Training Facility, and surrounding areas.
This exercise is an important opportunity to strengthen coordination between the Hussars and local emergency partners, ensuring all groups remain ready to respond effectively in times of need.
Please note that while soldiers will carry their issued service weapons, no ammunition will be loaded or used during the exercise.
Community members are welcome to speak with soldiers (when it’s safe to do so) to learn more about the training or the regiment’s role within the Canadian Army Reserve.
Together, this training supports ongoing efforts to keep Sussex prepared, connected, and resilient.
